At Mt. Carmel, there are many ways you can LIVE out God’s Word as that Word lives in us, calls us to meaningful work, and works daily in us. We want to help you identify and then engage your gifts and passions, equipping you for God’s work in this world. We are all essential part of Christ’s body, acting with our individual gifts and passions.
A group that assists the pastor and music staff with worship planning and occasional special musical events.
A group that receives and passes on prayers for support and healing. These prayers are specific and unique to the request.
A team that visits and brings Holy Communion to members who are not able to regularly attend worship.
A group that supports grieving families by serving luncheons following funerals and memorial services.
Lights candles and assists with communion and offering.
Assists Pastor and liturgist during communion by offering wine to communicants.
Helps Pastor lead service by leading prayers and creeds and assisting distribution of elements during communion.
Reads scripture during worship.
Welcomes visitors and members alike as they arrive on Sunday mornings.
Delivers the brief message to our younger children during the worship service.
After the children’s message, watches and plays with younger children in the nursery.
Monitors the soundboard and assists worship leaders with microphones, slideshows, etc.
Passes out bulletins, assists with communion, and collects offering.
Picks up and takes home worshipers who need transportation. Occasional opportunities to drive for community events.
Prepares the altar and church pews for services. Meets as needed. Members usually sign up for 2–3 months per year, 1.5–2 hours per week during your month.
Plays during worship once a month, sometimes more. Meets Wednesday nights from 6:30–7:30 p.m.
Sings for church services 3 Sundays a month. All are welcome even if you can’t make every rehearsal. Meets Wednesday nights from 7:30–8:30 p.m.
An organization for boys, age 11-18. Meetings held Tuesday evenings at 7:00 p.m.
An organization for boys, age kindergarten through fifth grade. Meetings held every other Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
An organization for girls, age kindergarten through second grade. Individuals willing to donate time/talent are welcome, such as teaching a knitting class or sewing class.
A group that oversees Mt. Carmel’s outreach to our neighborhood and the world. Ministries include Third Sunday Offering, Little Kitchen Food Shelf, the Sheridan Story, Meals on Wheels, food basket program and more. See our ministry partners for more information.
A group that makes quilts for baptisms and occasional community support.
A group that oversees the planning for this annual fundraising community event in the fall.
A group that works with the congregation to further the mission of the ELCA. Their statement, in part, reads that we embrace a “commitment to undo racism and move toward reconciliation, healing and embracing all people.”
A group that counts and tabulates weekly offerings.
A human resource and advisory group for staff.
A group that oversees the maintenance and repair of the church building. Performs special projects as needed.
A group that oversees the planning of Adult Forum curriculum.
A group that oversees the planning of a variety of education programs at Mt. Carmel including intergenerational events, Sunday school, Family Fellowship, and confirmation.
A group that works with the pastor to define the annual stewardship campaign including themes, goals, and logistics. Provides logistical support for running the campaign.
A group that helps Mt. Carmel make effective and meaningful use of our technology resources and social media presence.
